Police issue Easter holiday safety advisory as flood deaths hit 112
The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a flood advisory to members of the public, warning motorists to exercise caution at the height of Easter celebrations, which is marked by increased travel.
In a statement on Saturday, April 4, 2026, the National Police Service stated that as the Easter holiday period progresses, the country continues to experience substantial rainfall in several regions.

With 112 lives lost due to the rains as of Friday, April 3, 2026, the National Police Service has appealed to all Kenyans to prioritise safety, particularly given the combination of adverse weather conditions and increased movement of people across the country during the holiday period.
At the same time, the service has called on members of the public to be vigilant and responsible, as vigilance and responsibility remain critical to preventing further loss of life.
Message to motorists
On the other hand, the National Police Service has urged motorists to drive with extreme care by observing speed limits, remaining patient on the roads, maintaining safe distances, avoiding flooded roads, and ensuring their vehicles are in good mechanical condition.
