Police intercept vehicle ferrying bhang worth Ksh2M in Timboroa

Police officers in Timboroa have intercepted a vehicle transporting cannabis valued at Ksh2 million in a well-coordinated operation along the Eldoret–Nakuru Highway.

In a statement posted by the National Police Service (NPS) on its official X account on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, the officers from Timboroa Police Station acted on credible intelligence on October 13, 2025, and stopped a metallic grey Toyota Noah, which was ferrying narcotics.

“Acting on credible intelligence on 13th October 2025, police officers from Timboroa Police Station intercepted a metallic grey Toyota Noah, registration number, on the Eldoret–Nakuru Highway. The vehicle was suspected of transporting cannabis,” read part of the statement.

A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of four sacks containing 759 grams of cannabis. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and taken into custody for further processing and eventual arraignment in court.

“A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of four sacks containing 759 grams of cannabis. One suspect was apprehended and placed in custody, awaiting processing and arraignment in court,” said NPS.

The police have since impounded the vehicle and seized the drugs as evidence. The National Police Service commended the team involved for their vigilance and swift action in combating drug trafficking, noting that the operation demonstrates the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to rid the country of narcotics.

“The National Police Service commends the officers for their vigilance and swift action in combating drug trafficking,” the statement added.

The Service further urged Kenyans to support ongoing anti-drug efforts by reporting any suspicious activity or individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.

“The Service reiterates its unwavering commitment to the fight against narcotics and urges the public to continue sharing timely information to aid in the fight against crime,” NPS emphasised.

The latest operation highlights the growing coordination between intelligence and police units to crack down on drug networks that exploit highways for transportation. Authorities say the recovered cannabis will undergo further analysis as investigations continue.
