Police destroy 400 litres of illicit brew in Kisii crackdown
A multi-agency team comprising police officers and National Government Administration Officers conducted a successful crackdown on illicit brews on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in Nyamanani Village, Eburi Sub-location, Nyansakia Location, Kisii County.
In a statement by the National Police Service, they managed to seize more than 400 litres of illicit brew hidden in a sugarcane plantation, with the person of interest at large. The National Police Service added that it remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicating illicit brews and other harmful substances that pose a threat to public health and safety.
”During the operation, the team destroyed over 400 litres of Kangara, which had been concealed in a sugarcane plantation. Police officers are currently pursuing the main suspect, who fled the scene, with a view to apprehending and arraigning him,” NPS said in a statement via X.
Campaign against illicit brew
Elsewhere, a multi-agency security team comprising police officers from the Chemelil Police Post and National Government Administration Officers conducted an operation in Wagunga Village, Kamswa Sub-location, and Nyagoma Location, within the Miwani Division of the Muhoroni Sub-county on Sunday, October 26, 2025, leading to the team successfully confiscating and destroying more than 3,000 litres of Kangara. The officers also dismantled several distilling apparatuses used in the illegal brewing activities.

”The National Police Service (NPS) reiterates its commitment to sustaining the crackdown on illicit brews and other illegal activities that endanger public health and safety. Similar operations will continue across the county as part of ongoing efforts to curb the production, sale, and consumption of illicit alcohol,” NPS said in a statement on Monday, October 27, 2025.
War on narcotics
Meanwhile, in the war against narcotics, police officers from Maganda Police Station on Monday, October 27, 2025, conducted an intelligence-led operation targeting narcotics and illicit alcohol in the Maganda area.
The team managed to apprehend one person of interest and recovered 32 rolls and 40 sachets of a substance believed to be narcotics. The man was taken to the station and placed in custody, pending processing and arraignment in court. Members of the public are encouraged to continue sharing timely information to aid in the fight against crime.
