Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, together with his spouse, Pastor Dorcas, was warmly hosted by diaspora clergy for a private dinner in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, during his ongoing visit to the United States.

The event brought together a cross-section of Kenyan religious leaders and community members living abroad who voiced their deep concerns about the current state of Kenya.

In a Facebook post the same day, Gachagua revealed that issues raised included perceived failures in policy and governance, threats to constitutionalism, social security challenges, and the economic hardships facing ordinary citizens.

“This evening, clergy in the diaspora hosted my delegation, my spouse Pastor Dorcas, and me for dinner at Chelmsford, MA. The clergy expressed deep concerns over the goings-on in Kenya and especially on matters of policy and governance, constitutionalism, social security, and economic issues,” Gachagua noted.

He then revealed that he assured the clergy that there is still great hope for a better Kenya, despite the current challenges under the present administration.

He emphasised that his political pushback is not driven by personal ambition but by a strong resolve to restore Kenya’s dignity, strengthen democratic institutions, and ensure fairness in economic and social systems.

He declared that his efforts, together with those of like-minded leaders, remain focused on championing reforms that will return the country to a path of progress and stability.

“I assured them that there is great hope for a better Kenya, and our pushback is relentless and championed by our resolve to make Kenya better again,” he added.

Speaking during the dinner, Gachagua further noted that the voice of the diaspora community is vital in shaping Kenya’s future, urging them to remain engaged and vocal about national issues.

He encouraged them to partner with leaders who have the country’s best interests at heart, stressing that Kenya’s success depends on the collective action of both citizens at home and those abroad.

“The voice of our diaspora community is not only powerful but vital in shaping the future of our country. I urge you to remain engaged and vocal about national issues because Kenya’s success cannot be built by those at home alone; it requires the collective strength and vision of every Kenyan, wherever they are. It is through unity and shared effort that we will restore Kenya’s dignity and prosperity,” Gachagua said.
