Philip Kisia: Raila is preparing Ruto for a one term presidency
Governance expert and former Nairobi town clerk Philip Kisia has stated that the former prime minister Raila Odinga is preparing President William Ruto for a one-term presidency.
While speaking during an interview on Herman Manyora’s YouTube channel on Friday, September 20, according to Kisia, Raila might not support Ruto in 2027 and he will join Kenyans in making him a one-term president.

According to Kisia, Raila, who entered Ruto’s government under the broad-based initiative after Gen Zs were on Ruto’s throat, judging from Raila’s wisdom and past political experience, at the right time, he will come out and tell the president that he was only helping him to stabilise his government until he finishes his constitutional term in 2027 and his support were not to extend past there.
“Raila is a very intelligent man; he is a wise man. He is preparing Ruto for a one-term presidency. He will say, ‘My job was to stabilise to make sure that you complete your term. Now that you are finishing your term, can we pack our Viragos and go?’ He is a wise man; he is preparing this man for a one-term presidency.”
Good betrayal
On the question of whether Raila ditching Ruto in 2027 and not supporting him for a second term would be betrayal, Kisia termed it a good betrayal, since despite it he has already managed to help him survive till the end of his tenure and ensured political stability in the country, but at the right time he will join Kenyans in realising their one-term dream.

“That will be a good betrayal. That man has assisted him to survive, but he is just being a wise man by saying, ‘You know what? My job was to ensure stability, that this nation does not come to breaking point. As a statesman, my job was to hold the nation together. I have done it. It’s time for you and me to pack and go. I think that is the message that Raila is sending.’”
Wrath of hustlers
He further added that even the hustlers that the president rode on to power are also waiting for to exercise their wrath on him since, according to Kisia, Ruto has failed to deliver to this constituency, which came out in numbers to vote for him in 2022, expecting a lot from him.
“Worst of all, all the hustlers who William Ruto rode on to the presidency are waiting for him; the hustlers wanangojeawanangojea na shoka. They have placed you on the chopping board. Join me in retirement.”
