Peter Mbae: Goons mobilised to disrupt Gachagua’s Gatundu South visit
Rigathi Gachagua’s Democratic for Citizens Party (DCP) economic and planning adviser, Peter Mbae, has warned of plans to disrupt the former Deputy President’s tour in Gatundu South.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms on Sunday, January 11, 2025, Mbae said that goons were being mobilised ahead of Gachagua’s scheduled church attendance and public rallies in Gatundu South. He also highlighted concerns that local youth were being paid to fight against their own leaders.
According to Mbae, the situation is being orchestrated from a safe distance, with those funding the disruptions observing while enjoying the effects of their actions, leaving local communities to deal with the violence. He called on supporters and residents to meet at AIPCA in Gatundu.

“Goons are being mobilised to Gatundu South, ahead of H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH, church attendance and public rallies scheduled for today. Our youth being paid to fight our own leaders.
“Tunapiganishwa wenyewe kwa wenyewe Mt. Kenya while the ones who give money to pay the youth are clapping and enjoying roasted maize from a safe distance at State House. Wajinga ndio waliwao. Tukutane AIPCA Gatundu,” Mbae said.
Mbae also shared a video showing unidentified individuals welding barriers on a road, claiming they were being used to obstruct the former Deputy President’s tour across the Mount Kenya region.

This warning comes just days after Gachagua faced an attack in Nyeri, where his supporters managed to chase away the assailants.
The same happened to him at Kagio while entering Kirinyaga town, forcing him to wear a helmet as a protective mechanism after his motorcade was blocked by rowdy youths.
Slamming Kanja
The former Deputy President has publicly questioned the silence of the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, over these incidents, calling attention to what he describes as serious acts of injustice.
“Why have you surrendered the command of the National Police Service to politicians? Are you not embarrassed that the National Police Service has become the cause of insecurity in the country instead of providing security to citizens?”
Several leaders, led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, have come out to condemn the violence being meted out on Gachagua.
