One person of interest has been nabbed for transporting illicit brew in Nandi County, the National Police Service has revealed.

According to a statement from NPS on Saturday, September 27, 2025, officers from Kapsabet police station in Nandi Central Sub-County, in collaboration with the National Government Administration Organisation (NGAO), arrested the suspect on Friday, September 26, 2025.

The police revealed that the person of interest was distributing illicit brews in the Kamurguiywo area and was found in possession of 37.5 litres of chang’aa on a motorcycle.

Arraignment

The police have confirmed that he will be arraigned in court on Monday, 29 September 2025.

“The suspect remains in custody and is scheduled to be arraigned in court on Monday, 29 September 2025, to face charges related to the possession and distribution of illicit alcohol. All evidence has been secured at the police station,” the police said.

The development comes after police officers from Eldama Ravine Police Station in Baringo County conducted a targeted raid in Maji Mazuri Village, Koibatek, where the consignment of 60 litres of illicit brew was discovered on Friday, September 26, 2025.

”The operation targeted the homestead of a suspect, leading to the recovery of 20 litres of suspected Chang’aa and a further 40 litres of Kangara. The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken to Eldama Ravine Police Station, where he is being held pending arraignment.”

Meanwhile, in another crackdown on highway robbery, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Makindu arrested two persons of interest believed to be part of a motor vehicle theft racket along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

DCI on Saturday, September 27, 2025, stated that the duo was taken into custody after detectives trailed them in connection with a series of robberies targeting motorists.

Motor vehicle theft

The agency said the racket mainly focused on vehicles headed towards Uganda and unregistered cars bearing Kenya Dealers (KD) plates.

“Detectives in Makindu have arrested two men suspected of being behind a string of highway motor vehicle thefts,” the X post read.

“The …..are accused of orchestrating robberies targeting vehicles headed to Uganda as well as unregistered cars bearing Kenya Dealers (KD) plates.”
