A pastor on Tuesday appeared before Kisii High Court judge Antony Ndung’u and denied killing Irene Nyambusi Nyakwara.

Pastor Joel Mogaka, represented by Advocate Jeremiah Soire, was charged that on 14 January at Omosasa sub-location, Gucha sub-county in Kisii County, he killed Nyambusi.

Prosecutor Edwin Otieno asked the court to allow the prosecution to produce a witness in court on February 24  to be heard before she leaves for a foreign country.

Justice Ndung’u granted the request and released the accused person on a Sh500,000 bond with a similar surety. The deceased’s family is represented by lawyer Sonye Ondari

Jared Nyakwara, a brother to the deceased, said she has not been buried and they are waiting for family members of the accused to sign before they bury her.

According to Nyakwara, autopsy results showed there was blood clot on her neck and she suffocated, which led to her death.

Nyambusi, was a teacher at Bombaba secondary school. She died at Christamarriene Mission Hospital. Her parents took her children away from Mogaka’s home to care for them.

Charles Bakora, Nyambusi’s father said the family is devastated and appealed for justice to be done for her late daughter.
