The Empowerment Liberation Party (ELP) has announced plans to offer free tickets to all youth candidates in Kenya’s 2027 general election.

The ELP aims to attract Gen Z voters to transform Kenya’s political landscape, believing generational change is necessary to combat corruption and tribalism, said party leader Rose Mulwa (pictured).

“If we [want] real change in this country, we must help youth, particularly the Gen Zs, to win a majority of the elective seats. We must stop this trend of recycling the old guards in leadership,” Mulwa said during a meeting with Kamba Development Focus.

The party wants to ensure most elected leaders in 2027 are between 20 and 40 years old. Mulwa encouraged young people to prepare for positions ranging from county assembly members to governors.

Mulwa revealed she was considering a presidential run and urged the Kamba community to support her. Her priority would be tackling corruption in procurement processes.

She also advised President Ruto to delegate more, speak less, and listen more to citizens.

Several leaders at the event called for Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to step aside for new leadership, while youth activist Mercy Kamanthe encouraged Gen Z to vote out corrupt officials.

“Let them know that we as youths have a voice,” Kamanthe said. comnimus.
