Parliament fast-tracks burial plans for Ng’eno and 5 crash victims
Grief continues to hang heavily over Parliament and Narok County as leaders race against time to prepare for the burial of late Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament (MP) Johana Ngong Ng’eno and five others who died in the tragic chopper crash on Chepkiyep, Nandi County, on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
Families are still coming to terms with the sudden loss, while colleagues describe the moment as deeply shaking the House.
In a statement shared by the Parliament of Kenya on Facebook on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, it outlined the latest steps taken to ensure the send-off is well-organised and respectful. The statement further explained that members of the committee convened to make sure every detail is handled properly and in coordination with the affected families.

“Members of the Ad Hoc Parliamentary Funeral Planning Committee have held their 4th preparatory meeting to ensure that all arrangements are well coordinated and run smoothly on the burial dates of the late Johana Ng’eno and 5 others,” the statement reads.
Lawmakers also recognised the efforts of the technical team working behind the scenes, noting that preparations have involved long hours and tight timelines.

After the requiem mass service, members held another meeting where teamwork and unity were highlighted as key to delivering a dignified farewell.
“Speaking during the post requiem mass service Ad Hoc Committee meeting, Narok County MP Rebecca Tonkei lauded the teamwork exhibited by her fellow Committee members, and the staff,” the statement reads.
Tonkei expressed satisfaction with how the day’s programme had unfolded and praised the dedication shown by those involved.
“Today’s programme went on well. I am proud of this team and its Secretariat,” Tonkei said.
The committee leadership also addressed concerns about transport and movement of the bodies ahead of the burial ceremonies, stating that the office of the president will handle all the logistical arrangements.

“The Committee Chairperson revealed that the Office of the President has finalised logistical arrangements for airlifting the five bodies,” the statement reads.
In addition, local authorities have stepped in to support mourners who wish to stand with the grieving families during the final rites.
“He also confirmed that Narok County Government has availed vehicles to transport members and friends of the bereaved families willing to attend planned burial services,” the statement by parliament reads.
