Eliud Owalo officially hands over Communications, Digital Economy ministry to Margaret Ndung’u
Former Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and Digital Economy Eliud Owalo has officially handed over the ministry’s reins to newly sworn-in CS Margaret Ndung’u.
The handover ceremony took place at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Telposta Towers, Nairobi on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, and was attended by senior officials including the Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunication Edward Kisiang’ani and Principal Secretary for ICT and the Digital Economy, John Tanui.
“Former Information, Communications and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo today officially handed over to Cabinet Secretary Margaret Ndung’u. Mr. Owalo handed over at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Telposta Towers, Nairobi in the presence of Principal Secretary Broadcasting and Telecommunication, Prof. Edward Kisiang’ani, Principal Secretary ICT and the Digital Economy, Eng. John Tanui, and senior Ministry officials,” the ministry stated.
Owalo expressed his thoughts on the transition saying “Moments back I formally handed over to the CS Information, Communication and Digital Economy Dr Margaret Nyambura. Present was PS BT Prof. Edward Kisiangani and PS ICT Eng. John Tanui.”
Owalo’s new role
Following his tenure at the ministry, Owalo has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff, where he will be responsible for performance and delivery management in the government.
Speaking about his new role, Owalo shared that he also had time to meet up with the Public Service Management Unit as he resumes office.
“In my new role as the Deputy Chief of Staff responsible for Performance and Delivery Management in Government, I have today had an early morning meeting with the Public Service Performance Management Unit,” he said.
Adding;
“The team was led by the Secretary for Performance Contracting, Mr Joshua Mwiranga. The 5th Administration under the leadership of HE President Dr. William Samoei Ruto will strengthen and institutionalize Performance Management and Contracting at all levels of Government up to the individual scorecard. Accountability for Results is imperative!”
