Former nominated senator Gloria Orwoba has described what it takes to be part of President William Ruto’s government.

Speaking during an interview with a local media house on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Orwoba narrated how being a crook earns you a seat at the Kenya Kwanza Administration.

“By the time I opened my eyes to realise that I could not fit in, I realised that I was the square peg in a round hole. You have to be a thief, a murderer, a crook, some stray creature, or a rapist to fit into this government,” Orwoba said.

Orwoba spoke of how John Chebochok, who was implicated in a sexual exploitation investigative report by BBC Eye on Africa that placed him at the center of the vice, was recently spotted at a UDA meeting held in State House.

“You have seen that guy Chebochok with the UDA uniform in State House, yet we have watched how many videos of him during the Kericho Sex for Work scandal that was exposed by the BBC,” Orwoba noted.

Orwoba outcry

Her remarks come just a week after she stated that she was never allowed to take her personal items out of her Senate office.

While speaking during an interview aired on Friday, February 6, 2025, she stated that her phone is still stuck inside the Senate office and that she was not allowed to take it away.

Orwoba, who months ago was expelled from the Senate and stripped of her nomination capacity, continued to explain that at the time when she was having a tough time with the Senate, she had two phones, one for work and the other personal, and after she was expelled, she was never allowed to go back to the Senate to collect her belongings from the office.

She added that inside the office there were also her children’s documents, which are still stuck within the precincts of the Upper House.

She also stated that one of her phones had a security feature that could detect movements and report the results to the other phone she left with. She claims that there was an attempt to enter her office and that important information was taken away.

“I had a work phone and a personal phone; they are in the office. My kids’ documentation is also in the office, and the last time I was informed and even confirmed, I had a sensor on my phone to show me when there was movement and access to certain places in my office. It showed me that they actually broke into my office and removed everything around and took my documentation.”

According to her, she was removed unconstitutionally from the office, and her removal was illegal since she was supposed to officially hand over the office, which would have been the time she could have collected her personal items after handing over to her successor.
