Orengo names selection panel to recruit key Siaya County officials
Siaya County Governor James Orengo has announced the formation of a selection panel to oversee the recruitment of key county officials in Siaya County.
The move follows approval by the Siaya County Assembly and comes at a time when residents are keen on transparency and accountability in public appointments.
The positions targeted in the recruitment include members and the secretary of the Siaya County Public Service Board, as well as the county secretary.

In his statement shared on X on Friday, February 13, 2026, Orengo explained that the appointments followed a formal vetting and approval process conducted by the county assembly before the panel was constituted to begin its work.
“Following the successful vetting and approval of the nominees to the selection panel for the recruitment of the members and secretary (CEO) of the Siaya County Public Service Board and the county secretary by the Siaya County Assembly, I have appointed the following as members of the selection panel:
Risper Olick – Chairperson
Fred Edward Otieno Ambala – Member
Francis Ochung – Member
Gladys Olambo Okoth – Member
Alphonce Castro Okumu – Member
“As they embark on this noble task of identifying the most qualified candidates for these critical vacant positions, I congratulate them and wish them success. We look forward to a transparent, merit-based, and professional recruitment process,” Orengo wrote.

Orengo noted that the recruitment of senior officials is expected to influence service delivery in departments such as health, finance, and administration, which directly affect residents’ daily lives.
The selection panel will then begin identifying and recommending suitable candidates for the vacant positions, after which the county government will proceed to make final appointments.
