Olwande, Gattusso in training with Talanta, keen to join Kenyatta’s side side

Talanta FC head coach Ken Kenyatta is not worried by the current financial situation at his club, but wants to sign players and is eager to take the battle at KCB’s doorstep in a mid-week duel at the Kasarani Annex this afternoon.

Speaking exclusively to People Daily yesterday at Nairobi City Stadium, Kenyatta was adamant that Talanta would not be relegated.

“ I have tried my best to make it happen for this club. We now have a training ground and are looking forward to Wednesday’s match against KCB and therefore have no reason to lose, but to win convincingly,” said Kenyatta.

The former AFC Leopard’s goalkeeper and former Ushuru head coach also revealed that he wants to sign two new players to bolster his already thin squad.

Kenya international left back Samuel Olwande who just terminated his contract with Sofapaka trained with Kenyatta’s side yesterday and so was former Gor Mahia anchorman Collins ‘Gattuso’ Okoth.

The two however declined interviews and also Kenyatta could not confirm whether he was to sign them or not.

It is also rumoured that Talanta’s technical bench was looking for young players who can be used on a long term basis.

Talanta’s worst ever performance at the Kenya Premier League happened on 9th February when AFC Leopards hammered them six goals to nil at the Nyayo Stadium, an event that also exposed their dire need for financial support.

Nine days later, they tied to a one all draw with money bags Kenya Police before playing to a goalless draw with title chasers Nzoia Sugar.

Now 14th placed on the log after 17 games with 17 points, they last won their league match on 1st March when they defeated relegation zoned Vihiga Bullets by two goals to one.

Now they face a stubborn KCB, third placed on the log with 33 points after 17 games, an affair that Kenyatta knows well that won’t be an easy  walk in the park against Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno’s men.
