Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has accused the Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei, of overseeing biased ambassadorial appointments undertaken by the Kenya Kwanza regime.

In a statement on his X page on Saturday, August 16, 2025, Olekina decried that many of the appointments only featured individuals from five ethnic groups.

The senator maintains that such appointments go contrary to the regime’s pledge of uniting the entire nation under the broad-based agenda.

“Mr. Felix Koskei, as Head of Public Service, every ambassadorial appointment carries your stamp. Kenya’s top leadership preaches inclusivity, yet your lists shamelessly favor just five ethnic groups,” he said.

Betrayal

As the man charged with overseeing the overall management of the public service, including appointments and promotions and offering expert advice to the president, Olekina says Koskei has failed in offering a leadership role by agreeing to publish the list that excludes other communities in Kenya.

“This isn’t just biased—it’s a betrayal of every Kenyan who’s been sidelined. Other countries appoint diplomats with diversity and dignity. How dare you publish a list so narrow and exclusionary? You advise the President, yet you’re blind to this injustice. This is not leadership; it’s ethnic favoritism on full display. Do you honestly believe in the broad-based government?,” he posed.

His sentiments come a day after President Ruto unveiled a list of nominations and redeployments in Kenya’s Foreign Service, aimed at realigning the country’s diplomatic corps to enhance performance and service delivery.

In a statement on Friday, August 15, 2025, Olekina lamented that people from his Maa community were not represented.

“Why is the Maa Nation consistently sidelined by the government, denying them ambassadorial roles? Are we not Kenyans or just pawns in a political game?

Unity rings hollow

The vocal senator went ahead to indicate that the absence of nominees drawn from the Maasai community in the list announced by Ruto was blatant exclusion at a time when the president is calling for unity.

“Unity sounds hollow when every appointment mocks our community—no respect, no reward, just blatant exclusion! Frank Kibelekenya was promised an ambassadorial appointment, but it seems he, too, will subscribe to view sasa, Olekina stated.
