Ogamba unveils 2025 KUCCPS placement results
By William Muthama, July 1, 2025Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has announced the placement results for the 2025 KUCCPS cycle, confirming that 310,502 students have secured slots in both universities and colleges.
The announcement on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, came during a press briefing in Nairobi, highlighting key trends and new developments.
Demand for nursing
Ogamba revealed that 52,725 candidates applied for 34,048 KMTC slots, with nursing programs drawing over 27,000 applicants.
“Nursing remains the most preferred KMTC course, showing strong interest from students seeking careers in healthcare,” he said.

In teaching disciplines, 20,786 candidates applied, and 11,636 received placements, 10,800 in primary and 836 in secondary teacher training programs.
Ogamba stated, “Our investment in teacher training is paying off as more young people pursue educational careers.”
Highlighting expansions in academic offerings, Ogamba noted that the Kenya School of Law introduced a diploma program with 500 slots, all of which were filled.
“The diploma in law has exceeded expectations, with all positions snapped up,” he added, underscoring youthful enthusiasm for legal education.
He also pointed out significant demand in vocational education, with 93,207 applicants expressing interest in TVET programs.
“Technical and vocational education is becoming increasingly popular, and most applicants have already been placed,” he remarked.
Ogamba emphasized that 244,563 candidates qualified for degree programs, with 201,695 having submitted their applications.
“The placement figure of 310,502 reflects the ambitions of our youth and their drive to shape their futures,” he remarked, celebrating the successful completion of this year’s placement process.
He further urged successful applicants to embrace their academic opportunities and encouraged institutions to maintain high standards to foster a competent workforce.
As the new academic year approaches, students nationwide are preparing to embark on their respective educational journeys, energised, hopeful, and committed to leveraging their placements for future success.
