‘In God we trust’ – ODM reacts as govt officially submits Raila’s documents for AUC chairmanship race

Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has reacted after the Kenyan government officially submitted requisite documents for the former Prime Minister’s African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship bid.

ODM’s trust in God

ODM through their official X account on Monday, July 29, 2024, reacted to Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei’s update on the submission of Raila’s documents to the AUC Dean of Eastern Region Dharmraj Busgeeth, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

“Submitted. In God we trust,” ODM stated as they shared the photos from the July 29, 2024, Addis Ababa event.

ODM thankful to govt

When PS Korir shared an update about the preparation of Raila’s documents ahead of the submission on July 28, 2024, ODM also reacted, thanking him for the move.

“Twasema asante sana,” the Orange party responded to the update.

Raila’s AUC chairmanship bid

PS Korir on Monday, July 29, 2024, said that Raila’s requisite documents for his AUC chairmanship bid had been submitted under the authority of the Government of Kenya and as per the statutes and rules of the African Union Commission.

PS Korir in his update said he had been accompanied to Addis Ababa by Kenya’s ambassador to Ethiopia George Orina, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party spokesperson Makau Mutua and Ambassador Elkanah Odembo.

“Addis Ababa. 29 July. Under the authority of the Government of Kenya and as per the Statutes and Rules of the African Union Commission, we have today formally submitted requisite documentation of Kenya’s nominee for the Chairmanship of African Union Commission Raila Amolo Odinga, to the Dean of Eastern Region, H.E. Dharmraj Busgeeth, Ambassador of Mauritius. I was accompanied by Ambassador George Orina, Prof. Makau Mutua and Amb Elkanah Odembo,” PS Korir said.

Makau Mutua had earlier on stated on his official X account that he was at Bole International Airport in Ethiopia on the road to the AUC for Raila.
