ODM mourns Mombasa MCA Mohammed Hatimy
The Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) leader Raila Odinga and other party members have mourned Mombasa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Mohammed Hatimy who died on Saturday morning.
The MCA who was also the ODM County Chairman is reported to have succumbed to Covid-19 related complications.
Mombasa County Assembly speaker Ibrahin Khatri confirmed the death on Saturday morning.
“He passed on at 3am. He was suffering from lung infection,” said Khatri.
The ODM family mourned Hatimy as a dedicated leader and a sportsman who served with passion.
On his Twitter, Raila said Hatimy was a dedicated leader.
“I’ve received with sadness news of the passing of long-serving @TheODMparty Mombasa County Chair Mohamed Hatimy. He was a dedicated leader in the realms of politics, sports, and business. May God grant his family strength at this difficult moment and may His Soul Rest In Peace” said ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Mombasa governor Hassan Joho said his county has lost one of its gallant sons.
In a Twitter thread, Joho, also his close ally mourned him as a treasured friend.
“In Mohamed Hatimy, I have lost a brother and a treasured friend. On behalf of the people of Mombasa and my own behalf I extend my sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family. May the Almighty assuage your grief and grant you patience as you confront this tragic loss,” said Governor Joho.
Hatimy was a former chairman of the Football Kenya Federation(FKF) before he actively joined politics.
