NYS goals
National Youth Service (NYS) is dedicated to empowering Kenya’s youth through a unique blend of paramilitary discipline and vocational excellence.
Through its programmes, the NYS equips recruits with technical and vocational skills in areas such as construction, agriculture, mechanical works, and community development.
These skilled cohorts form a vital ‘action force’ for Kenya, deploying nationwide to lead disaster response, infrastructure projects, and environmental conservation.

This latest drive seeks to fill 700+ positions, offering career pathways for both cadets and private officers.

Ruto praised the institution for transforming young men and women into disciplined, patriotic, and skilled citizens ready to contribute to Kenya’s growth.
”We are undertaking far-reaching reforms to transform the National Youth Service (NYS) into a dynamic and productive institution, one that is truly fit for purpose and capable of equipping our young people with market-relevant skills and qualifications that prepare them for the opportunities of the modern job market,” President Ruto said.
