The Service termed the suspect’s behaviour unacceptable, noting that verbal harassment and intimidation of officers not only undermines their authority but also threatens the rule of law.

“The suspect will face the full force of the law for his actions, including resisting arrest and obstructing police officers on duty,” NPS said.

The Service also commended the officers involved for maintaining calm and professionalism despite provocation.

“NPS further applauds the officers involved for their resilience and professionalism in the face of provocation, noting that they acted with restraint to ensure the safety and dignity of all involved,” the statement added.

According to NPS, the incident serves as a reminder that while offenders’ rights must be respected, those rights do not extend to undermining lawful authority.

The statement reaffirmed that police accountability and professionalism remain the cornerstone of policing nationwide, with the Service continuing to invest in reforms such as modern policing tools, improved welfare, and stronger community engagement.

The Service further urged members of the public to cooperate with police officers during lawful duties, warning that anyone resisting or abusing officers would be prosecuted.

“National Police Service remains steadfast in its mission to serve, protect, and maintain law and order across the country with professionalism and integrity,” NPS said.
