Boniface Mwangi calls for prosecution of foreigner recorded assaulting Kenyan police officers
Human rights activist and presidential aspirant Boniface Mwangi has called for the prosecution of a foreign national caught on camera assaulting Kenyan police officers at a station along the coast, moments after being arrested for attacking his girlfriend in a hotel room.
In the viral video seen by the PeopleDaily Digital, the visibly intoxicated man is recorded hurling insults at restrained officers, kicking furniture and making offensive gestures. According to the officers, the person of interest was detained following multiple offences, including assault, malicious property damage, and creating a disturbance at a hotel facility where he was staying.

Reports indicate the police were alerted by certain hotel staff members over a physical assault by the same man on a woman, who had already been rescued and taken to the hospital. Upon searching his room, authorities are reported to have found a white substance, believed to be narcotics.
Call for prosecution
Following the incident, Boniface Mwangi, who has on many occasions been campaigning against police brutality, has sided with the men in uniform and called for action against the said foreigner.
”Kenyan police have a reputation for being problematic, corrupt, and violent, but this level of disrespect toward a police officer is unacceptable. The foreigner captured in this video deserves to be prosecuted, jailed, and then deported,” Mwangi took to X on Tuesday night, October 28, 2025.
The activist, who is also seeking to be elected president in the 2027 general election, said he would introduce reforms in the police sector, retrain police officers and retire those who cannot acquire new knowledge. He added that his administration will prioritise improving the state of police stations and ensure better working conditions.
Police reforms
”I can guarantee that if it had been a Kenyan who dared to do this to an officer, he would have been beaten to death. Kenyan police fear whiteness and anyone who looks rich. As President, I shall send all current police officers for retraining and retire those who cannot be retrained. In my government, we shall pay police better, upgrade police stations to ensure better working conditions, and have officers live in the community. The police will be allowed to have a union to fight for their rights,” Mwangi added.
Meanwhile, the particular incident has sparked public outrage, with many commending the police officers for maintaining cool even under provocation and temptation to use excessive force.
