Njuri Ncheke warns Meru leaders against early succession politics
The Meru community council of elders Njuri Ncheke has warned Meru leaders against early politicking for the 2022 elections.
They called on Governors Kiraitu Murungi (Meru), his Tharaka Nithi counterpart Muthomi Njuki together, and other leaders from the two regions to stop playing political supremacy battles ahead of 2022 poll.
The elders noted that power supremacy battles may affect service delivery to the residents, adding that a leader will only be elected following his tangible development records.
Speaking to People Daily, the Njuri Ncheke leaders from the two counties called for unity among leaders saying early political division may also sabotage fulfillment of national developments pledges made by the Jubilee government in the region.
“Decamping to Kieleweke or Tangatanga now by our leaders is like trying to Kill developments and blocking completion of projects that were initiated by the Jubilee government when it took over power all we can tell our leaders is to support President Uhuru Kenyatta, and not to play politics of self-interest,” they said.
At the same time, they urged leaders to support President Kenyatta’s development agenda and initiative to enable the country to achieve steady economic growth.
