Hi there, here is what you need to know in order to catch up with today’s happenings.

1. Health committee

The Department Committee on Health will today hold a crucial meeting to conduct an in-depth inquiry on the alleged fraudulent payment of medical claims and capitation payments by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

The meeting will be held in the presence of Health Cabinet Secretary (CS) Susan Nakhumicha, health Principal Secretary (PS) Harry Kimutai and NHIF management officials.

The venue of the meeting will be Committee Room 12.

2. NPS briefing

The Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome will hold a press briefing at the National Police College in Kiganjo from 10:00 am.

3. RCMRD Conference 2023

The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) conference 2023 will be officially launched today in Kasarani, Nairobi County.

This year’s event themed ‘Space to community’ is expected to run for three days and will be headed by Paul Idude.

The purpose of the conference is to engage on fundamental topics such as Food Security, Innovations and Data, Land Management Policy and Development as well as Biodiversity Conservation and the Blue Economy.

4. African Faith Leaders’ Press Conference

The African Faith Leaders will today converge at Elysian Resort in Runda, Nairobi county for a conference themed ‘Navigating Africa through Contemporary Crises: An Integrated Approach’ today.

The event will feature a congregation of African Catholic bishops, faith leaders across Africa and development experts.

The aforementioned leaders are also expected to address issues affecting the country such as the state of Kenya’s politics, the economy and the social justice issues.

5. Ruto’s itinerary

President William Ruto is today expected to continue his tour of the Mt Kenya region.

He will visit the Kieni constituency in Nyeri to commission the new KCC plant in Kiganjo at 9:00 am.

6. Senate Committee on Health

The Senate Committee on Health is today expected to hold a stakeholder engagement meeting with Health Regulators from 10:00 am.

The purpose of the meeting is to receive oral submissions on the Community Health Services Bill. 2023.

The venue of the meeting will be Committee Room 5, Main Parliament Buildings.

7. Senate Standing Committee

The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget will meet for a discussion today at 9:00 am.

The purpose of the meeting with Kisii Governor Simba Arati is to deliberate on a statement by Senator Richard Onyonka on the status of pending bills at the county as of June 30, 2023.

The venue of the meeting will be County Hall, Ground Floor Boardroom.

8. Special Fund Accounts Committee

Members of the Special Fund Accounts Committee will have a meeting with the Principal Secretary, the State Department for Petroleum to examine the special audit report on the stabilization of refined petroleum pump prices (April 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022).

The venue of the meeting is Boma Hotel South C.

9. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries

The Senate Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries will today converge at the First Floor, Red Cross Building to discuss the petition regarding the EACC graft investigation on the West Kano Irrigation Scheme.

10. National Assembly Committee Lands

The National Assembly Committee Lands is scheduled to meet today from 10.00 am.

The purpose of the meeting with the State Department for Lands and Physical Planning and the National Land Commission is to follow the Budget Implementation.

Later at noon, the committee will meet with Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and the National Land Commission to follow on the compensation of the Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone.
