New KDF recruits begin military journey in Eldoret training school
By Kiprono Keileb, November 11, 2025The Defence Forces Recruit Training School (DFRTS) in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, welcomed a new batch of recruits on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, marking a major milestone for Cohort 01/25.
The official reception was presided over by Brigadier Alphonce Ndar of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in accordance with the post shared by KDF on X on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

Addressing the recruits, Brigadier Ndar encouraged them to approach their training with dedication and care.
“I wish you nothing but success, stay healthy, take care of yourselves, and approach your training with discipline and commitment,” he said, reminding the recruits that their journey would demand both physical and mental resilience.

The recruits will begin their orientation with document verification, medical screening, and biometric registration. They will also receive their military kits and an initial introduction to the training programme, designed to equip them with foundational military skills.
Training at DFRTS covers discipline, physical conditioning, field craft, leadership development, and essential soldiering skills. The programme is structured to develop well-rounded personnel capable of serving the nation in diverse capacities.

“The recruits will undergo document verification, medical screening, biometric registration, issuance of kit and an initial orientation to prepare them for the foundational military training that covers discipline, physical conditioning, field craft, leadership development and core soldiering skills,” the statement reads
This cohort includes both General Duty recruits and specialised Tradesmen and Tradeswomen, reflecting KDF’s commitment to nurturing a versatile and inclusive force. The recruits come from different parts of the country, bringing diverse backgrounds and experiences to the training environment.

The reception of Cohort 01/25 is an effort by KDF to strengthen its ranks while maintaining high standards of discipline and professionalism.
