Advocate Ndegwa Njiru has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto following his recent donation at a Machakos church, where he handed over a brand-new Land Cruiser Prado along with Ksh20 million towards the church’s construction.

In a post shared on his X account, Ndegwa accused the president of having misplaced priorities. He questioned how the head of state could offer such large sums and luxury vehicles to churches while millions of Kenyans continue to suffer from hunger and poverty.

Ndegwa claimed that state resources are being diverted into what he described as brown envelopes and SUVs for clergy, instead of addressing the country’s economic challenges. He stated that no amount of church donations or religious symbolism can fix a country that has already been broken by poor governance.

He concluded that the president’s failed leadership guarantees that he will serve only one term, saying the reality of that outcome is as clear on earth as it is ordained in heaven.

“Mr ONE TERM, starving the people yet spoiling the pulpit with SUVs and brown envelopes is your new economic model. However, you can donate an entire fleet of Prados to bishops, but remember, holy oil can’t fix a country you have broken. Yours is a case of failed governance meeting divine bribery. And for this reason, ONE TERM is ordained in heaven. And on earth.” Ndegwa stated.

Ruto’s donation

This comes after President William Ruto gifted the African Inland Church (AIC) Bishop, Benjamin Kalanzo, a brand new Toyota Prado during his installation ceremony.

Ruto, who was attending the installation of Bishop Kalanzo as the new shepherd for AIC Machakos Area, taking over from the retired Bishop Philip Muia, announced that through the help of friends, he had bought a brand new Toyota Prado for the new bishop.

In addition to the car gift, Ruto pledged Ksh20 million to support the construction of a new sanctuary for the AIC Machakos Church.

He announced while attending the consecration ceremony of Bishop Benjamin Kalanzo. After being informed that the total construction budget was Ksh200 million, the president offered to contribute 10 per cent of the amount.

The president also encouraged the church leadership to form a committee and provide an official account number to facilitate the transfer of the pledged funds.

He jokingly commented on the high budget, saying that the church must be made up of men and women of great faith. In response, he added that because the church has such strong faith, he, too, has faith that the full amount will be raised.
