A political storm is brewing between Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu and Senator Ledama Ole Kina ahead of President William Ruto’s visit to the county for a thanksgiving ceremony on Sunday.

Ole Ntutu has since declared Ledama as an unwanted guest in the William Ole Ntimama stadium interdenominational prayers asking him to go give his thanks on social media.

During the inspection of the venue on Tuesday afternoon, the county chief said that Ledama will not grace the event accusing him of being an absentee in the county and who is only seen on TV, radios and social media criticizing his development agenda.

“Hakuna kitu tunamwambia, unajua yeye ni mtu wa TV hutatampata hapa kwa ground, yeye ni mtu wa social media na TV, so yeye ataomba huko kwa social media,” (We will not tell him anything, you know he is a social media and TV person, you will not find him at the stadium, so he can just have his own service on social media.

The Narok event will be graced by President Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua. Also expected to attend the event are other Kenya Kwanza leaders and government dignitaries. The thanksgiving ceremony will happen on the same day as Azimio La Umoja’s Jacaranda rally. It remains to be seen whether Senator Ledama will attend his opponent’s rally on his home turf or his party leader’s rally.

The governor stated that he has no personal grudge against the senator; “Let him continue playing his oversight role at the Senate through the media and continue being a television celebrity. Let him use the same platforms to follow the event and offer commentary,” the first-term governor stated.

Speaking on a phone call with People Daily Digital, Ledama warned the county head that nobody can bar him from attending any event in Narok.

He accused Governor Ntutu of panicking over an illegal project proposal that he (the senator) is exposing. He claims the undertaking neighbour’s abuse of office since he is curtailing the members of the county assembly from overstating the proposals.

“Ntutu does not know that I have records of him issuing illegal tenders and his naivety over legal matters,” the senator alleged.

The two have been at loggerheads from the time they took over their respective offices, with the former claiming that the governor bribes Members of the County Assembly (MCAs).

This was after Ntutu promised MCAs Ksh100 million ward development fund.
