Narok governor orders all drivers, vehicles to congregate at Ntimama stadium for audit
Narok governor Patrick Ole Ntutu on Friday ordered all drivers and their vehicles to congregate at the William ole Ntimama stadium for him to conduct an audit in an effort to streamline the transport department.
All drivers were ordered to stand next to their vehicles as the governor went round and counted the vehicles while asking drivers questions about their work and about the vehicle’s condition.
Accompanied by his deputy Tamalinye Koech over 20 members of the county assembly Ntutu said he plans to take a stock of the County Government motor vehicle inventory and his government transport capacity.
Addressing the media during the exercise, Ntutu said the exercise was aimed at harmonising the human resource capacity with the existing fleet of county vehicles hence taking stock of all grounded and missing Government vehicles.
“According to the number of vehicles I have been given by my officers, the county has 224 vehicles, we are here to establish physically if the vehicles are there, if not where are they?” Ntutu Posed.
He said he had last week ordered from the county ministry of roads and infrastructure for all movable vehicles and machinery to be assembled in the stadium.
“We are doing this so that we can establish our capacity. We need to know how many vehicles and what we need. We also need the information on the number of vehicles that need to be disposed of,” he added.
He also said that he has spoken with the NYS director general to come and access defunct vehicles in the county and help to repair those that can be repaired.
The Governor revealed he has also toured the Maasai mara game reserve and took stock of county personnel who are there, inspected the automated revenue collection by KAPS and addressed the rangers over the security of wildlife and tourist facilities.
