Nandi residents welcome appointment of Peter Leley as CEO of NPSC

Career civil servant Peter Kiptanui Leley has been named as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).

Leley who has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee IGRTC hails from Kaplamoiywo village in Tinderet Nandi county

The commission named him the CEO for a period of five years and announced that he would start work immediately to enable them to cover the lost ground in efforts to fast-track police reforms.

Leley is a certified administrator and has in the past worked as the senior district commissioner also as Secretary at Uasin-Gishu County government

He also holds a bachelor of political science from the University of Nairobi and a master of strategic management from Moi University

A section of Tinderet residents have lauded the appointment of Leley as CEO saying they have confidence in him as a dedicated public servant since the police will definitely get several reforms.

“We have confidence in him as he will be liaising with other agencies in ensuring that Kenya mostly the police department achieves their goals. We know him as a performer here at Taachasis in Tinderet,” David Maiyo, a professional from Nandi stated.

In last year’s polls, Peter Leley ran for the Tinderet parliamentary seat but lost to current Mp Julius Meli. Leley wanted to vie on an independent ticket but deputy president Rigathi Gachagua convinced him to support the candidature of Meli who was vying on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket promising him a position in Kenya Kwanza government if President William Ruto would be elected

“We salute President William Ruto and his deputy for keeping their promise to Leley. As residents, we know Leley was told to back the current parliamentary bid for Tinderet seat after being promised a position in government and for sure he has been awarded, now let him serve the nation ” Kirui Bett, a political analyst in Tinderet stated.

Nine candidates were interviewed for the position including Silas Opiyo, Aden Barhe, Christine Rotich, Janeth Mucheru, Justa Kiura,Kenedy Mulunda, Nakitare Humpherey and Nura Huka.

The CEO will run administrative matters of the commission.
