As Valentine’s Day celebrations take place across the world, leaders are reminding the public that the essence of the day goes beyond gifts and flowers, emphasising the importance of compassion, kindness, and genuine care in human relationships.

In a statement shared on X on Saturday, February 14, 2026, Former Attorney General Justin Muturi reflected on the significance of love and care in society, stressing that small, meaningful acts can have a lasting impact on communities.

“Imagine a world without love and care, hard to picture, isn’t it? Life would feel colder, lonelier, and emptier. Love is one of the most powerful forces that binds humanity together. It is expressed through caring for one another, sharing in each other’s joys and challenges, and offering comfort, hope, and reassurance when it is needed most. As we celebrate Valentine’s Day, I am reminded that true love goes beyond grand gestures and spoken words; it is found in simple, genuine acts of kindness that uplift lives and strengthen our sense of community,” Justin Muturi wrote.

He encouraged people to use the occasion to reflect on how they support and nurture one another, noting that compassion is a shared responsibility.

“Today is a special moment to reflect on the beauty of nurturing one another, supporting families, friends, and everyone in our communities, and showing compassion to those who need it most,” Justin Muturi’s statement reads.

Muturi also highlighted the inspiring courage and resilience of new and expectant mothers, calling it a reminder that caring for others is a vital social duty.

“Interacting with mothers who have just welcomed their newborns and those patiently awaiting the joy of motherhood is always deeply humbling. Their strength, resilience, and unwavering hope embody the purest form of love. It reminds us that caring for one another, especially during life’s most delicate and transformative moments, is a duty we all share as a society,” Justin Muturi stated.

He concluded by urging everyone to intentionally share their time, resources, and support with others, noting that these acts build stronger bonds and a more united community.

“Valentine’s Day should inspire us to look beyond ourselves and extend a hand of compassion to those around us. A caring society is built when we intentionally share our time, resources, encouragement, and warmth with others, particularly those who need it most. When we choose kindness, we strengthen bonds, inspire hope, and create a more humane and united community,” Justin Muturi wrote.

Muturi reminded the community to prioritise empathy and human connection, making the day not just a celebration of love, but also of care and communal responsibility.
