Murkomen unveils Kenya’s high-tech border security at London aviation summit
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has pointed out the efforts to modernise the country’s border management systems during a key international aviation forum in London. The summit brought together global leaders in airports, airlines, and technology to discuss the future of aviation and digital border security.
In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Murkomen described Kenya’s push to build a secure, technology-driven border framework that safeguards the country while supporting trade and tourism.
“We are building secure, efficient and technology-driven border management systems that safeguard our country while facilitating global connectivity, trade and tourism,” Murkomen wrote.

The CS stated that the Passenger Terminal Expo & Conference 2026 offered a platform for Kenya to engage with global aviation authorities and technology innovators, showcasing the country’s efforts to integrate advanced systems into its borders.
“Today in London, I participated in the Passenger Terminal Expo & Conference 2026, a leading global forum bringing together governments, airports, airlines, aviation authorities and technology innovators from across the world,” he said.
Murkomen noted that discussions at the summit focused on emerging trends in aviation, digital border management, and travel facilitation, underlining how technology can strengthen security while improving passenger experience and operational efficiency.
“The discussions explored emerging trends shaping the future of aviation, digital border management and international travel facilitation, with a strong focus on how technology can strengthen security while improving passenger experience and efficiency at borders,” he wrote.

The Interior CS further pointed out the importance of the engagements for advancing Kenya’s national security objectives and its broader digital transformation agenda in the aviation sector.
“These engagements are critical as Kenya continues to modernise its border management architecture, strengthen national security through intelligent border systems, and advance our digital transformation agenda across the aviation ecosystem. During the engagements, we were received and hosted by David Lavorel, SITA’s Chief Executive Officer, and Pedro Alves, Senior Vice President – Borders, alongside other global industry leaders,” Murkomen concluded.
