Azimio La Umoja leaders yesterday claimed  Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford-Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula are on a mission to  auction Western Kenya to Deputy president William Ruto.

Speaking in Mudavadi’s home county of Vihiga, the politicians also dismissed Kenya Kwanza alliance’s claims that Raila Odinga’s presidential candidature is a State project.

Led by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho who is the ODM deputy party leader, the politicians claimed Mudavadi and Wetangula wanted to auction Luhya votes for their selfish gains.

Uhuru projects

They said Mudavadi and Wetangula were busy campaigning for Ruto in the region without telling the electorate what the DP had done for them in the 10 years that he has been in government.

“Do not accept to be auctioned by Mudavadi and Wetangula to William Ruto. Ruto has nothing to offer you because he has done nothing for you for the 10 years he has been in the government as deputy president,” said Joho (below).

They said Ruto had been giving empty promises to Kenyans and taking credit for the projects initiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta for political mileage.

The leaders asked the Luhya community to vote for Raila in large numbers to ensure he wins the presidency.

Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi, who once belonged to Mudavadi’s ANC, asked Vihiga people to remain in the Azimio movement if they want to be in the next government.

Osotsi said he was confident that Raila would win the presidency in the August 9 General Election.

“I ask my people of Vihiga County and Western region to support Raila Odinga and vote for him in large numbers. I am confident that Raila will form next government and our people will be accommodated,” said Osotsi.

Luanda MP Chris Omulele warned those who did not back the Azimio movement that they would be swept aside.

“Vihiga is fully supporting Raila Odinga for the presidency and those who are going against the Azimio will be swept away,” said Omulele.

Homa Bay Women Rep Gladys Wanga said Raila was not anyone’s project but the project of all Kenyans.

Kieni MP Kanini Kega said the Mt Kenya region had decided to throw their weight behind Raila.

“Mt. Kenya is for Raila Odinga and we are working to ensure he takes the presidency,” said Kega.

Murang’a Women Rep Sabina Chege accused Ruto of taking credit of the good things Uhuru and Raila had done through handshake.

“Ruto failed to help President Uhuru to deliver services to Kenyans instead he resorted to early campaigns. He is taking credit for projects initiated by Uhuru for his political gain,” said Sabina.

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina said Kenya needs a president who will take the country to the next level of development.

“Kenya needs a progressive leader like Raila Odinga who will stimulate our economy and promote building of industries that will hire our jobless youth,” said Ledama.
