Mt Kenya youth leaders have demanded the resignation of Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale over remarks they described as offensive and divisive.

The leaders, drawn from Jukwaa La Mlima Kenya, addressed the press on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Their chairperson, Victor Njeru, said their statement was not intended to advance a political agenda or target an individual.

“My statement today is not to advance any political agenda or target any individual,” Njeru said.

He urged leaders in government, political parties and civil society to exercise restraint and choose their words carefully.

Njeru said public officials must uphold the values that unite Kenyans.

Youth leaders call for Duale’s resignation

Jukwaa La Mlima Kenya Secretary-General Gichuki Weru said Duale had failed to demonstrate the integrity expected of a Cabinet secretary.

“For the sake of the youth, CS Aden Duale must resign because he has failed to uphold the integrity and unity that young Kenyans who aspire to be Cabinet secretaries like me look up to,” Weru said.

“You cannot insult Kenyans today and expect to mentor youths tomorrow.”

The leaders said senior government officials must avoid language that could create divisions among communities.

They argued that Cabinet secretaries should serve as examples to young Kenyans seeking leadership positions.

NCIC investigates Duale’s remarks

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission has opened an investigation into allegations of ethnic incitement linked to remarks attributed to Duale and circulated on social media.

The commission launched the investigation after receiving a formal complaint.

Duale has denied targeting any ethnic community. He maintains that his remarks were misinterpreted and taken out of context.

The Mt Kenya youth leaders did not accept his explanation. They maintained that public officials must take responsibility for statements that could threaten national unity.

Their demand adds to the growing political pressure facing Duale as the NCIC investigation continues.
