National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has penned a heartfelt tribute to mothers as the world marks Mother’s Day, in what he described as honouring the most graceful, enduring, and divine title on earth.

Taking to his official social media accounts on Sunday, May 11, 2025, Wetang’ula described mothers as the unsung architects of people’s future, shaping generations with the gentleness of their words and the firmness of their will and determination.

”Today, I rise not from the Speaker’s Chair but from the depths of gratitude to honour the most graceful, enduring, and divine title on earth, Mother. Behind every strong nation stands an even stronger woman, a mother who prays in silence, sacrifices in secret, and loves with no condition. Mothers are the unsung architects of our future, shaping generations with the gentleness of their words and the firmness of their will and determination,” Wetang’ula stated.

Wetang’ula lauds mothers

The former Bungoma County senator went ahead to laud mothers not only as carers but also as educators, leaders, healers, protectors of culture, and dream-bearers.

Wetang’ula also says that mothers are the country’s silent prayer warriors, balancing life’s weight with grace and lighting people’s paths with wisdom.

”In every corner of this country, from Parliament to the village, from the marketplace to the boardroom, mothers embody unmatched courage and compassion. They are our nation’s silent prayer warriors, balancing life’s weight with grace and lighting our paths with wisdom. I salute every mother for the endless roles you play: nurturers, educators, leaders, healers, protectors of culture, and bearers of dreams. Your touch, gentle as it is, is mighty, and its impact is felt by many,” he stated.

Uplifting mothers

He further urged everyone to take a moment to honour and uplift the mothers among them, those present, those remembered, and those raising their tomorrow.

The Ford Kenya party leader also lauded Kenyan mothers as the poetry in the country’s constitution, the heartbeat of people’s homes, and the soul of the nation.

”You teach us that true leadership begins at home, around the warmth of your presence. This Mother’s Day, may we all take a moment to honour and uplift the mothers among us, those present, those remembered, and those raising our tomorrow. To every mother in Kenya, you are the poetry in our Constitution, the heartbeat of our homes, and the soul of our Republic. Happy Mother’s Day!” Wetang’ula wrote on X.

This year’s Mothers’ Day comes five months after Speaker Wetang’ula’s mother died. The veteran lawyer-cum-politician’s mother Anne Nanyama was buried on January 4, 2025, in Bungoma.
