Mosiria urges motorists to be cautious amid ongoing heavy rains
By Cynthia Lodite, March 6, 2026Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has called on motorists and residents to exercise caution following the ongoing heavy downpour.
In a statement on his official X account, Mosiria, while confirming the flooding situation in the capital’s Central Business District, urged motorists to remain vigilant and careful to avoid accidents on the wet roads.
“Following the ongoing rains in Nairobi, I would like to appeal to all residents and motorists to exercise caution. As you drive, please remain vigilant and careful to avoid accidents on the wet roads,” Mosiria said.
Mosiria further confirmed that there are no floods reported within the CBD, adding that the county emergency response teams are on standby and ready to respond to any flooding or disaster that may arise due to the heavy rains.
“I also urge city residents, especially those who have constructed structures along riverbanks, to ensure they move at least 30 metres away from both sides of the river from the riparian land,” he added.
“This is important to prevent loss of life from possible floods and also to allow room for the Nairobi River regeneration and the ongoing efforts to reclaim and restore rivers across the city. Let us all remain alert, prioritise safety, and work together to protect lives and our environment,” Mosiria explained.
