Millie Odhiambo: Without Gen Z and women, opposition lacks something
Suba North Member of Parliament (MP) Millie Odhiambo has criticised the newly unveiled united opposition team, faulting it for failing to embrace inclusivity.
In a statement shared on her Facebook page in the wee hours of Sunday, September 21, 2025, the lawmaker noted that the current structure appears incomplete and uninspiring due to the absence of women and young people.
According to her, the lack of diversity has denied the movement the vibrancy and energy it needs to resonate with the wider population.

She argued that while the team has outlined its objectives, the exclusion of critical groups undermines its ability to connect with Kenyans at the grassroots. Odhiambo maintained that the opposition must re-evaluate its composition if it intends to build momentum and command the confidence of citizens across the country.

“Si kwa ubaya, but this team needs to do something to create some life and excitement around it. I do not know whether it is because women are missing or young people are missing, but it lacks something. However, they should not dance even if surrounded by 1000 Gen Zs,” Millie Mabona stated.
United opposition
This comes at a time when united opposition leaders have joined hands in order to seize power in 2027 and send Ruto home.
The principals, despite all of them harbouring presidential ambitions, have made it clear that at the appropriate time they will all shelve personal interests and throw their weight behind one single candidate who will face Ruto on the ballot.

For the recent past, they have been in the boardroom trying to come up with a roadmap that will see them defeat Ruto, who is adamant about retaining his seat.
The former deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, has come out to announce his interest in the top seat, stating that after his return from the United States of America, Kenyans endorsed him as the most suitable candidate to unseat President William Ruto, who went further to seek blessings from his backyard before embarking on the day-long journey of consolidating support across the country.
He has also urged his backyard to support any candidate that will be fronted by the United Opposition.
