Mbarire flags off drugs worth Ksh19M, issues padlocks to prevent theft
Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has flagged off a Ksh19 million drug consignment for Embu Level 5 Hospital.
Speaking when she flagged off the consignment, Mbarire issued a stern warning to doctors, nurses, and other staff stealing medicine that their days are numbered and soon they will meet the wrath of the law.
Mbarire said those who have been conspiring to divert drugs to private hospitals will be dealt with.
“I want to give notice to those members of staff who have been aiding in stealing medical supplies from Level 5 hospitals to chemists and other private hospitals, your days are numbered. We will not entertain any form of theft however small it is. If you are ready to take that way, be ready to face the consequences,” Mbarire said.
Mbarire buys padlocks

Mbarire delivered the drugs alongside padlocks for the stores where the drugs will be kept noting that she will keep the keys to ensure the drugs are guarded.
She urged the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Daniel Mugendi to ensure there is proper daily monitoring of medical supplies usage in the hospital.
The county boss also stated that her government will automate services in all hospitals, dispensaries, and health centers to guard against the theft of drugs and equipment.
“You cannot sell drugs supplied by the county government. That era is gone and behind us what is made for people will remain for them,” she warned.
