Ruto jets back home

President William Ruto is expected back in Kenya today after concluding his US tour.

The plane carrying the Kenyan president left Joint Base Andrews, Maryland on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

“Thank you President @JoeBiden, First Lady @DrBiden and the people of the United States of America. Together, we will make the world a better place for all.

“Departing at the Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, USA,” Ruto wrote on X on Saturday at 5:06 am.

The US visit saw Ruto strike various deals, including a Kshs23 billion deal inked with Coca-Cola company.

Ruto also used the US state visit to woo investors to come to Kenya which he termed as a strategic business location for investors seeking to enter the African continent.

Prefontaine Classic

World champions Mary Moraa and Beatrice Chebet are set for what is expected to be thrilling Prefontaine Classic action in Eugene, USA today Saturday, May 25, 2024.

This is also the action that Athletics Kenya will take to determine its men’s and women’s Olympic 10,000m qualifiers.

Two-time world cross-country champion Chebet, the world leader at 5000m this season, will be part of a women’s race that will include world champion Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia. This comes eight months after Tsegay set the world 5000m record on the same track.

Beatrice Chepkoech, who is also a world record holder, will be in action, and top on her mind will be an attempt to retain her controlling hold over the steeplechase when she races top challenger Faith Cherotich.

Weatherman

The Kenya Meteorological Department warned of moderate to heavy rainfall today Saturday, May 25, 2024.

In a notice on Friday, May 24, 2024, the weatherman indicated the downpour would be experienced only in some parts of the country while the rest would continue receiving sunny intervals.

“Friday, May 24, 2024 and Saturday, May 25, 2024: Expect moderate to heavy rainfall in some parts of the country,” the notice read in part.

In Nairobi, the weatherman told residents to brace themselves for rains and sunny intervals on the weekend. The minimum temperature in the city will be 16 ˚C while the maximum will hit 25 ˚C.

Mombasa County will also experience a mixture of sunny and rainy intervals during the weekend with the maximum temperature hitting 30 ˚C.

Other areas set to receive moderate to heavy showers include Kisumu, Eldoret, Nakuru and Nyeri. However, Marsabit will experience sunny interval over the weekend with a maximum temperature projected to hit 25 ˚C.
