Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today’s happenings.

Condemnation of Gachagua

Leaders allied to the government are expected to continue condemning former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his recent remarks on the 2027 elections.

His remarks that the 2007/2008 post-elections violence will be made to look like a Christmas party should anyone try to rig the elections rubbed the wrong way leaders allied to President William Ruto.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika have publicly called out the DCP party leader, with Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen being the latest to join the calls.

FKF Premier League

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League round 32 tie is set to continue, with the title-chasing trio of Gor Mahia, Kenya Police, and Tusker FC contending with opposition from struggling outfits.

K’Ogalo will be seeking a return to winning ways on enemy territory with a clash against Murang’a Seal upcoming on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

The 3:00 pm tie promises to present another potential banana skin for Gor Mahia. The struggling newcomers are showing prospects of resurgence following a managerial change at the club that saw Yussuf Chippo take the mantle at San Sebastian.

Meanwhile, Kenya Police will welcome FC Talanta at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos at 4:00 pm.

Police who failed the test of Kakamega Homeboyz on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, clash in Mumias will need to keep wary of Talanta’s giant-killing prowess.

Beleaguered Brewers have a date against Sofapaka FC at the Dandora Stadium.

Shabana will resume their Gusii turf for a clash against newcomers Mara Sugar.

William Muluya’s Kariobangi Sharks will square off against high-flying Homeboyz.

Politicians in churches

Political leaders are expected to flock to different churches across the country for worship.

As per their norm, they might take to the church pulpit to make various remarks, with those allied to the opposition expected to call out the government over the arrest of Mumias East MP Peter Salasya.

Those allied to the government are, however, expected to continue calling out Gachagua over his warning directed at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Gachagua, in an interview on the Obinna Show, warned that should IEBC try to subvert the will of the people during the next general elections, Kenyans will reject it and that the 2007/2008 post-election violence will look like a Christmas party.
