Former Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has celebrated teachers across the country as the real architects of Kenya’s future, describing their work as the purest form of nation-building.

In his message posted on his X account on Sunday, October 5, 2025, marking World Teachers’ Day, Matiang’i paid glowing tribute to educators for their lifelong commitment to shaping minds, nurturing values, and inspiring future generations.

“To my fellow teachers and colleagues, thank you for nurturing the minds and values that will define our nation’s future. Your work is the truest form of nation-building,” he said in a statement on X.

Matiang’i, who spent years in the education sector before joining government, said teaching remains one of the most powerful tools of transformation, even when the results are not immediately visible.

He described the profession as a sacred task of nation-building, reminding Kenyans that teachers work quietly behind the scenes, but their impact lives through generations.

“Ours is the sacred task of nation-building. Every lesson we teach, every mind we nurture, shapes the Kenya of tomorrow. We may work in classrooms, but our impact lives through generations,” he added.
