Maribe’s car seen in Kilimani night Monica murdered
A Nairobi court yesterday heard how a motor vehicle belonging to television journalist Jacqueline Maribe was spotted around Kilimani area on the night businesswoman Monica Kimani was murdered.
Chief Inspector Fredrick Gichuki, played the CCTV footage capturing the movements of Maribe’s vehicle, registration number KCA 031E on the night of September 19/20, 2018 when the businesswoman was murdered in her apartment at Lamuria Gardens, Kilimani in Nairobi county.
Maribe and her then fiancée, Joseph Kuria Irungu alias Jowie are charged with Monica’s murder on the fateful night.
Gichuki told Justice Grace Nzioka that he received a letter from the DCIO Kilimani requesting for the CCTV footage of the vehicle’s movements on the material day to assist with investigations into the murder.
“We provided the same to the officer assigned to the case one Sergeant Joshua Moria,” the witness told the court.
He said that on October 16, 2018, he also received another letter from DCI headquarters requesting for the same footage.
Gichuki said that he acted on it and gave them the original copy for further action.
“After going through our system we captured the movement of the vehicle and I downloaded the same and gave it to the investigating officer. I handed over the CD and the certificate,” he told the court.
The footage played in court traced the vehicle being driven along Ngong Road towards Yaya Centre at 8.09 am on September 19.
It is then captured at Yaya Centre at 8.28 am. The third footage showed the vehicle being driven on Lang’ata Road, near the Lang’ata Cemetery towards Galleria at 15.24 hrs on the fateful day.
It is later shown being driven at Bomas Junction towards Rongai town on Magadi road at 15.26hrs. Fifteen minutes later, the vehicle is again spotted being driven from Rongai towards Bomas of Kenya at 15.44hrs.
At around 16.27hrs, the vehicle is again spotted at Yaya Centre, the footage showed.
Four minutes to midnight, the vehicle was again spotted along Mbagathi Way heading towards T-Mall.
Eight minutes later, the vehicle was again spotted on State House road near the University of Nairobi, heading towards Uhuru highway.

At 03.56hrs on September 20, the vehicle was seen on Chiromo Road near Villa Rosa Kempinski.
One minute later, it was spotted on Uhuru highway near Utalii House being driven towards Kenyatta Avenue, onwards to Haile Selassie avenue roundabout, and onto Bunyala road.
It then joined Langata Road at around 04.00am heading towards Thomas Barbados.
Detectives investigating the murder and the sentry at the Lamuria Gardens where Monica’s body was found murdered have previously stated that Jowie had visited the deceased on the fateful day driving the vehicle. Hearing continues today.
