Wafula Chebukati’s memorial
Politicians, senior government officials and members of the public will congregate for the memorial service of the former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman the late Wafula Chebukati.
The family will hold a funeral service in Nairobi on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at CITAM Karen, from 11:00 am according to a program of events shared via Chebukati’s official X account on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
The function will kick off a series of events scheduled to pay the last respect to the former chair of the electoral body.
The family will hold a service and tributes at 9:00 am on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Chebukati’s rural home in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County.
A burial service will then be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Chebukati’s Kitale home, starting from 9:00 am.
Chebukati passed on on Friday, February 21, 2025, at a Nairobi hospital, as confirmed by family.
Start of the Ash Wednesday
Christian and Anglican devotees will join in the commemoration of the start of Ash Wednesday this Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
Ash Wednesday is a holy day of prayer and fasting in many Western Christian denominations during which Christians prepare us for Christ’s Resurrection on Easter Sunday, through which they attain redemption.
The day marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day period of penance, fasting, and reflection leading up to Easter Sunday on April 20, 2025.
Morara Kebaso and SHA discussion on social media
On the socials, discussion on the Social Health Authority (SHA), the government healthcare insurance policy is expected to go down this Wednesday 5, 2025.
The discussion, which will be held on X Spaces from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, will cover the nitty gritty issues relating to registration of the insurance policy.
Gilbert Osoro will lead the forum as the speaker with Yeddah Machage acting as the moderator.
The discussion coincides with a sudden u-turn from doctors regarding their support for the scheme. On Tuesday, March4, 2025 medical practitioners – under their umbrella body Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) – dismissed the scheme as a scam.
“SHA is not working, let nobody cheat you,” the doctors said in a press conference at the union’s head office.

The medics questioned where the Ksh10 billion deducted every month from Kenyans was going. This was a complete turnaround of events when reflecting on the December announcement, three days after a truce brokered by Deputy PresidentKithure Kindiki.
Joined by the Union of Kenya Civil Servants (UKCS), the doctors gave the government a two-week ultimatum to resolve the issues once and for all.
“Failure to do so, we will call on all civil servants in both national and county governments to join a series of demonstrations starting on March 18, 2025,” the doctors said.
Another notable event on the social media space will be Morara Kebaso’s live session.
The popular government critic is scheduled to have an interactive session on the popular video app, Tik Tok.
The Inject Party Leader confirmed on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, that he will be going live on the app the day after as from 7:00 pm.
Kebaso has hogged the headlines following his recent meetings with Rigathi Gachagua and Martha Karua.
