Seasoned political analyst Herman Manyora has stated that with Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba’s continued indirect attacks on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, she may have reduced her chances of being elected as Kiambu County boss in 2027.

While speaking during an interview on his channel on Friday, September 26, 2025, Manyora explained that Wamuchomba’s chances of unseating Kimani Wamatangi were high when she was close to Gachagua.

However, by appearing to attack Gachagua, who commands huge influence in the Mount Kenya region, her probability of winning has slowly diminished.

Manyora went on to state that anybody who does not align themselves with Gachagua will find it difficult to be elected to any seat in the mountain, especially at a time when the region has embraced him and views him as the most suitable person to unseat President Ruto.

“If you are not with Rigy G, you will invite trouble. Wamuchomba is an independent person, and that is good. I had actually thought governorship was hers for the taking. That’s the way I saw it until now. It’s gone. You can’t get it if you don’t align yourself with the man of God. You just can’t,” he said.

Antagonising Gachagua

Manyora further argued that any politician from the vote-rich Mount Kenya region who appears to antagonise Gachagua by running a parallel agenda is essentially shooting themselves in the foot.

He drew parallels with Nyanza, explaining that anyone perceived to be against ODM leader Raila Odinga automatically risks their political career.

“If you come from Mount Kenya and you are running in the opposite direction of the man of God, the truthful man of God, the Son of God, you have to be prepared for trouble. For now, if you are not with Rigy G, you will invite trouble. I don’t know about tomorrow, but that is the reality today.” Manyora stated.

Kenya Moja Caucus

He also took a swipe at the Kenya Moja parliamentary caucus, of which Wamuchomba is a member, for moving around the country presenting itself as a third force.

Manyora suggested that the caucus may have been created to cripple the united opposition and weaken Gachagua’s grip on the mountain, thereby giving President Ruto an easier ride in 2027.

“People have even said that this thing was purposely set up to destabilise the United Opposition. It is there to break Rigy G’s hold on Mount Kenya; that’s what people are saying,” he said.

Wamuchomba’s political moves

This comes at a time when Wamuchomba appears to be drifting away from Gachagua.

During his impeachment battle, she was firmly by his side, but in recent times she seems to have taken a different path, now aligning herself more closely with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.
