Seasoned political analyst Herman Manyora has predicted that if the retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and his former personal assistant Rigathi Gachagua unite and agree to move together, the mountain will be gone.

While speaking during his daily analysis on the political situation in the country on Friday, April 3, 2026, according to him, should the truce happen as it is now appearing, following the meeting of the two in Kirinyaga, which has since taken the country by storm, the mountain itself will be hostile towards President William Ruto and will be deeply in the united opposition.

Manyora further adds that should the two unite, it will be a significant move, and the whole mountain will fully align itself behind these leaders to the detriment of William Ruto.

“If Uhuru and Gachagua were to sit together and work together, that ends the whole thing. It means the mountain is gone for good and in a big way. Ruto must have been hoping that Uhuru and Gachagua would never work together.”

Manyora further states that it was William Ruto’s wish that the two never unite since he also knew that should they do so, it would have a great impact on his 2027 re-election.

Caroli Omondi’s view

Suba South MP, who doubles as the recently appointed Secretary General of the Azimio coalition, Caroli Omondi, has also taken a swipe at the meeting of the two in Kirinyaga during former Senator Daniel Karaba’s send-off, saying that should the two decide to work together, since they have already shown signs of doing so, it will be of great significance to the opposition.

He added that this may pull upwards of 16 million votes for the united opposition. Caroli went ahead to state that even Uhuru using the Rigathi Gachagua-led Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) symbol is also significant and shows that there are great things to come.

This comes days after Uhuru and Gachagua met and were seen to be having light moments that spoke volumes.

The two were friends for over 20 years, with Gachagua working as Uhuru’s personal assistant for over 7 years, but later fell out with each other in the run-up to 2022 after Gachagua aligned himself with William Ruto.

The animosity continued, but in the recent past, the gap between the two has been narrowing as they prepare for 2027.
