Man denies stealing Sh1.4m

By , March 31, 2023

A man was yesterday charged at the Milimani law courts with stealing Sh1.4m from his employer’s bank account. Jesse Mwangi is accused of stealing the money on January 10, 2023 at an unknown place from David Kariuki.

According to the charges, Mwangi was said to be working as Kariuki’s agent when he transferred the money online from Kariuki’s bank account to his account at the Equity bank without any agreement or consent.

He appeared before the chief magistrate Lucas Onyina and denied the charges. Through his lawyer, he requested the court to consider granting him lenient bond or bail terms since his bank account is frozen. Onyina directed the accused to be held in custody until April 13, 2023.
