Lugulu Girls students demonstrate over alleged defilement by a stranger
Form Four students of Lugulu Girls in Webuye Bungoma County on Tuesday took to the streets to protest an alleged attempted rape in the school.
According to a police report seen by PD Online, the girls alleged that a stranger attempted to rape a student while she was taking a bath but the school administration was adamant to investigate the incident.
The school’s principal Dina Cheruiyot told police that the students took to the streets after attempts to be addressed by Education Ministry officials seemed futile.
“It was reported by Mrs Dina Cheruyot, the school principal, that form four student were screaming and making a lot of noise demanding to be addressed by ministry of education officials since the school management were adamant,” read the report.
The attempted rape victim told the police officers that she raised an alarm which made the suspect to flee in the early morning incident.
Students are said to have been agitated by their principal whom they accused of laxity and ignoring them.
