Lonyang’apuo hails Ruto for nominating Lorionokou as registrar of political parties
By Arnold Ngure, August 15, 2025Former West Pokot Governor John Lonyang’apuo has hailed President William Ruto for nominating John Cox Lorionokou as the new registrar of political parties.
In a statement on Friday, August 15, 2025, shortly after the announcement was made, Lonyang’apuo stated that the Pokot nation was happy and grateful for the nomination.
“Congratulations, John Cox Lorionokou, on your nomination to fill the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties. One more from the Land of Hidden Treasures. I wish to thank President William Ruto for this nomination. As a community, we are happy and grateful,” Lonyang’apuo said.
Man from Kacheliba
His remarks were reiterated by Kacheliba MP Titus Lotee, who welcomed the nomination, noting that such an honour had never visited Kacheliba constituency.

“I will wish to congratulate my friend, classmate, and areamate John Cox Lorionokou for the much-deserved appointment as the registrar of Political Parties. This kind of appointment has never visited Kacheliba constituency before, and it is proof of dedication, hard work, and the favour of God,” Lotee said.
“Equally, I wish to congratulate and thank William Ruto for trusting us with such a huge task. Sir, when tasked, we always deliver.”
Interviews
Lorionokou was nominated from a group of 10 candidates who had been shortlisted for the position on August 6, 2025.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) had shortlisted Ali Abdullahi Surraw, Sophia Kaindi Sitati Muchangi, Geoffrey Obonyo (PWD), Everlyne Cherotich Koiyan, Aloyce Peter Ndege, Mercy Kalondu Wambua, OGW, Manana W. E. Rodgers, Rahma Adan Jillo, Lorionokou John Cox, and Florence Tabu Birya.
After their interviews on August 11, 2025, President William Ruto settled on Lorionokou as the possible replacement for former registrar of political parties Anne Nderitu, who is now an IEBC commissioner.
For the position of deputy registrar of political parties, which had attracted Seth Odhiambo Onyango, Josphine Kirion Eregae, Simon Owawa Nyamolo (PWD), Chebett Koske, Julius Cheche, Peter Mutui, Agatha Wanjiku Wahome, Mohamed Abdullahi Abdi, Robert Psakit Borter, and Gilbert Wiliam Opanga, Ruto settled on Agatha.
The nominees await their approval by the National Assembly before they take the oath of office.
