List of areas to experience planned power outage on Tuesday, April 28
By Aloys Michael, April 27, 2026Residents in parts of four regions of the country should prepare for planned electricity interruptions on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, Kenya Power has announced.
In a public notice issued on Monday, April 27, 2026, the utility firm said scheduled maintenance exercise affecting parts of the Nairobi Region, North Rift Region, North Eastern Region and Western Region.
“Good evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (28th April 2026),” KP wrote on X.
The outages are part of routine system maintenance aimed at improving network reliability and service delivery.y

Nairobi, Kajiado and Machakos
Within the Nairobi County, parts of Nairobi West will experience outages in the Riverside Drive area from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Kenya Power has listed several locations, including Arboretum Drive, UoN Hostels Chiromo Campus, Prime Bank, Delta Riverside Garden and sections of Westlands and Ring Road.
In Nairobi South, customers in Imara Daima will also be affected during the same period of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with areas such as Villa Franca Estate, Tsavo Gardens Apartments, Kings Millennium and Mukuru Health Centre among those listed.

Neighbouring Kajiado County will see a longer outage window in Kitengela, running from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Kenya Power noted that locations including Milimani ACK, Milimani Orchard, Noonkopir G26 and Governors Road will be without electricity during the maintenance exercise.
Meanwhile, in Machakos County, residents of Syokimau will experience power interruptions from 9.00 am to 6:00 pm, affecting areas along Kiungani Road, Katani Road, Community Road and Airport Road. Additional outages are scheduled in Kitui Road markets from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
North Rift and North Eastern regions
In Nandi County, customers in the Mosoriot and Kosirai areas will be without electricity between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, with Kenya Power listing locations such as Tebeson, Itigo and Ndonyongaria.
Parts of Trans Nzoia County will also face outages from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, specifically in Aturukan, Sirwo Resort and Mwaita areas.

Further east, sections of Kiambu County, particularly Mugumo and Marion Schools areas, will be affected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. In Kitui County, power will be interrupted across Nguni, Ukasi, Mutito and Ngomeni locations during the same hours.
Western region
In the Kisumu County, the Nyawara and Ogola Market areas will experience outages from 8:30 am to 4.30 pm, affecting businesses and households in Kisian Odima, Usare and Ongalo Market.
Kenya Power urged customers in all affected regions to plan accordingly, noting that electricity supply may be restored earlier than scheduled once maintenance works are completed.
The utility routinely carries out such planned outages to upgrade infrastructure, connect new customers and ensure a safe and stable power supply across the national grid.
