President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga have been challenged to give Kenyans the way forward after the High Court ruling on the Building Bridges Initiative ( BBI).

This comes after five bench judges ruled on Thursday that the BBI referendum is unconstitutional.

A section of leaders drawn from West Pokot County has said both President Uhuru and ODM leader Raila should come out and say whether they will adhere to the court ruling or not.

Speaking to the People Daily on Saturday in Kapenguria, the leaders led by former nominated MCA Teresa Lokichu said the two leaders should take lead in adhering to court orders.

Ms Lokichu said that the silence of the two principals was too loud an indication that they are not on the side of the common mwananchi.

“It is unhealthy for the two principals to remain mute when Kenyans are waiting with bated breath to hear their voices. Does this mean they are not supporting the court ruling? Does their silence mean they are not supporting Kenyans? ’’ she said.

She noted that Kenyans were not given a chance to read and understand the document and praised the Judges for nullifying it

“I personally heard about BBI when chiefs moved from village to village asking locals to support it,” Lokichu asked.

Former West Pokot County assembly speaker Mr Johnston Losilian said that many Kenyans were not involved in the BBI Process and added that the judges followed the law to the latter.

He told President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga to accept the ruling and move on.

“Let them go back to the drawing board and start the process afresh,”he said.

The former Chepareria ward MCA on the other hand faulted members of parliament and MCAS for passing the bill blindly.

“They could have involved the Youth, women who could have been given out their views,”he said.
