MP Kimani Kuria: Parliament will do proper vetting on Ruto’s CS nominees
Molo Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Kimani Kuria has assured the public that the National Assembly will do a thorough vetting of the Cabinet Secretaries that were nominated by President William Ruto.
Speaking at an event in his constituency in a video shared via his official X account on Monday, July 22, 2024, the lawmaker said the parliament will ensure the president gets the CSs that are qualified so that they can help him push the country forward.
“Mimi nataka kuwahakikishia, tutafanya kila jitihada ya kuhakikisha yakwamba tumefanya proper vetting ndio tukuwe na mawaziri ambao wamehitimu na ambao watatusaidia kuendesha nchi ya Kenya mbele na wale ambao watasaidia Rais wetu kufanya kazi. Mmenipea hiyo ruhusa?” he stated.
Tough questions for nominees
Kuria went ahead to point out that the MPs will throw hard questions at the CS nominees, and only those that will answer them perfectly will qualify for appointment and assumption of office.
“Tuwaweke kwa vetting vizuri? Tuulize hao maswali ngumu ngumu? Yule ambaye anashindwa aende, yule ambaye anatoboa akuwe hapo,” the National Assembly Finance and National Planning Committee chairperson added.
Young CS nominee
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) lawmaker further thanked President Ruto for nominating a youth to his cabinet.
Kuria also urged the youth who have managed to get positions in the Kenya Kwanza administration to work hard.
“Na nashukuru kwa sababu nimeona pia vijana wa miaka thelathini na mbili kama mimi wanateuliwa kwa baraza la mawaziri. Nawaomba msituangushe, tuweze kusaidia Rais kazi asikuwe anafanya kazi pekee yake, ili tubadilishe nchi yetu,” MP Kuria Kimani said.
I can assure Kenyans that we will do proper vetting to the cabinet nominees so that we can have competent and capable people to assist our President deliver on his pledges.

I wish to also thank H.E @WilliamsRuto for appointing a 32 yr old to cabinet.#KKSeasonTwo #Molo pic.twitter.com/0cG7GCmmSr
32-year-old Eric Muriithi Muuga could be the youngest CS nominee in President Ruto’s government should parliament approve his nomination.
The Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation CS nominee is a registered engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
Muuga will be vetted by the Committee on Appointments at the National Assembly before being sworn in as CSs for their respective dockets, even as Kenyans await President William Ruto to announce the second batch of cabinet nominees.
