Kuria brags he is vindicated after warning Mt Kenya against fully embracing Ruto’s UDA
Former Cabinet Secretary and Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) Party leader Moses Kuria has claimed that history has proved him right for warning the Mount Kenya politicians against fully aligning with President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
In a statement on Saturday, November 22, 2025, Kuria opened up about his reluctance to join Ruto’s party, which was met with criticism from a section of Mt Kenya politicians who are now crying foul after the bitter fallout with the president barely two years into his first term in office.
Warned them
“I warned these people against joining Ruto’s party. I told them you will remember my decision. Now they are saying that a mistake is only bad when repeated.”
“I explicitly warned against using Ruto’s party, and now that they have been kicked out, I have been vindicated,” he added.
The politician, while commenting on the region’s current political marginalisation and perceived betrayals, laughed off the development as a political miscalculation that has no comeback.
He reminisced about standing firm with his party and rejecting Ruto’s request to disband his party for UDA.
Right Judgement
“I refused to disband my party in 2022 despite pressure from Ruto, who claimed that I did not trust him. Had I been in UDA, I would be the governor now. The people now crying Kasongo are the ones who mobilised people against me when I was warning them about aligning with Ruto’s party.”
“The likes of Senator Thangw’ah, Wamuratha, and Governor Wamatangi were being funded against me. I was the only person who had the right judgement,” he added.
Speaking at the same function, Kuria also publicly bragged about his election vote manipulation techniques, adding that he will be open to employing the trick in the Mbeere North by-elections.

“We are here to protect our votes and make Mbui the MP for Mbeere. Having handed him the party ticket three months ago. I have seen how he has undertaken his campaigns, and I have no doubt in my mind that he will be the MP on November 27,” he stated.
The former CS also controversially claimed that they will not be leaving anything to chance, including employing rigging the polls in favour of their candidate, if need be.
“The people of Mbeere North have decided from Siakago to Mushonoke to Kanyuombora. They want a candidate from within Mbeere. I am only here to help his bid and protect our votes. If they also don’t take care of theirs, we will steal some,” he added.
